  • -Babies with Down Syndrome: A New Parents' Guide

             By Susan J. Skallerup

This book is a wonderful resource for parents. It goes through so many issues including explanations of the causes of Downs, adjusting as a parent, medical concerns for your child, daily care, family life, development of a child with Downs, early intervention, and legal rights.

This book was very helpful for both my husband and myself. It really hit right on about the emotions we were going through as well as educating us and what we needed to do. It is a must read for any new parent.

  • Gifts: Mothers Reflect on How Children with Down Syndrome Enrich Their Lives

Kathryn Lynard Soper (Author),

The title is basically a self explanation of the book.  I loved reading this through once I found time a few months after Madeline was born. It gave me the needed boost to work through the hard times and to see all the joys of having a child with Down syndrome.
